About Me

Christiane Knight is an artist, poet, writer, and author of the contemporary fantasy series Stories of the Eleriannan. A former club and radio DJ, Christiane's love of dark subculture and music infuses her stories and characters. Her novels are set in the Fae infused version of her already quirky hometown, Baltimore MD.

Taking a quick pause from talking about work on the current novel, A Third Kind of Madness, to declare boldly that I've submitted In Sleep You Know to this year's Self Published Fantasy Blog Off, aka #SPFBO because that's my goal this year, living boldly and fearlessly.

As of this blog post, I’ve got about 21,000 words to hit my word goal!

When Merrick crashed a Halloween party at the big Victorian house on the outskirts of town that was legendary for throwing wild and weird parties, he had no idea what he was in for. In the end, he found himself with new powers, a girlfriend who can visit him in his dreams, and a seven year bond with the local Fae court.

"People tell you to write what you know. It’s one of the most common pieces of advice to aspiring writers.

And it works: when you put down words that are based in your lived experience, they ring true. They are solid, trustworthy, something understandable by most readers. It’s why autobiographical books from famous people often do well. Readers want to feel what it was like to live that life, be involved in those moments, understand the parts of the story that weren’t shared with the general public at the time. Maybe it’s a voyeuristic compulsion, I don’t know. Maybe it’s just curiosity."

Some writers need community to help them stay focu

Some writers need community to help them stay focused and motivated. I am definitely one of them! I like setting goals and seeing progress, and I enjoy working alongside other people focused on the same task, even if it's only virtually.
Both my books owe a lot to NaNoWriMo, which gave me just the right push to achieve a little more than I might have.
